Solving a System of Linear Equations
Find the values of x, y, and z :
2x + 4y + 2z = 16
-2x - 3y + z = -5
2x + 2y - 3z = -3
This is my favorite math problem because it offers a challenge and satisfaction when we achieve each answer for x, y, and z. Math is problem solving because in every aspect, it offers a problem and a path to achieve a solution. In a problem like the one above, we are presented with a challenge and solvers must find a way to achieve the answer through a critical path of analytical thinking and decision on which method to use for actually solving the system (substitution/elimination).
